| About Fees and Insurance |
Dr. Martin's fees for individual counseling and marriage or couples counseling are as follows:
The fee structure is for office visits only. Dr. Martin does not offer any form of online or e-mail counseling.
**** Please note: Dr. Martin no longer accepts insurance for marriage or family counseling. He does accept insurance for individual appointments.
If you will be using health insurance, we will be happy to obtain your exact insurance benefits, including deductibles and co-payments Sometimes the experience of contacting an insurance office for information is difficult and complicated, and we have become experts at this process. Most new clients want to know this information before their initial appointment so they will know what payment will be expected at time of services.
As a courtesy to our clients, we will gladly complete and file your insurance claims. We will wait for payment from the insurance company for your insurance benefits. We ask that you make your co-payment at time of services. If your deductible has not been met for the year, we ask that you pay for services until your deductible has been met.
Dr. Martin is a preferred provider for many insurance companies and most MCO's, PPO's, and POS's. By using a preferred provider, you obtain maximum benefits and the lowest copayment possible. He is being added to new insurance provider panels every month. Some, but not all, insurance panels he is currently on are:
Acordia, Allmerica Financial, America Healthcare Trust POS, American UltraNet, Benefit Management, Inc., Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Blue Cross/Blue Shield EAP, Blue Cross/Blue Shield FEP, Blue Cross/Blue Shield TVA, Cariten, Cariten Senior Health Plan, Cigna, Corporate Health Administrators, Diversified Group Administrators, Employer's Health, Fortis Benefits, Great West Insurance, Guardian, HealthSource POS Plan, Heritage, Humana, Kanawha/PHP, Medicare, Mental Health Network, Metra Health, Options Health Care, Phoenix Home Life, Principle Financial, Provident, Prudential, Railroad Medicare, S.E.Pipetrades Health, TADCO, LLC, United Healthcare (State of TN plans), U.T. Please note that insurance provider panels change frequently, and the above list might not be completely up to date. Your insurance plan might very well be covered even though it is not listed above. The only way to know accurately is to let us make a call to your insurance company. We invite inquiries and we can give you the very latest information. If you have any questions about fees or insurance coverage, please call Dr. Martin's office.

| Treatment and Counseling Philosophy |
A major goal Dr. Martin has in counseling is finding solutions. With managed care often restricting or reducing the number of sessions available, Dr. Martin believes it is important to be focused and goal-oriented in finding practical answers or solutions to the problems presented.
An important part of finding solutions is making the most of the sessions. Dr. Martin will often suggest homework assignments or recommended readings which the client can pursue between sessions to enhance the counseling process. These are, of course, not required but are offered as suggestions to clients.
For many clients, developing coping skills is of major importance. Dr. Martin places emphasis on skill-building in his counseling.
In marriage counseling sessions, Dr. Martin believes improving communications is a significant goal and he works with couples to develop win-win solutions. Most couples do not want to find a villain, but rather want to make the relationship more positive and communications more effective.
If medication appears to be needed, Dr. Martin routinely works with a client's primary care physician or psychiatrists in the community. If a patient does not have a primary care physician, Dr. Martin can give a referral list of well-qualified physicians.
